What is a chemical peeling ?
Chemical skin peeling is a dermocosmetic treatment, which consists in provoking (or inducing) an accelarated and controlled cutaneous regeneration with the application of chemical exfoliating agents, which enable to act at different depths. The skin peeling generates the exfoliation of the superficial layers of the skin in order to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin and glycosamoniglycans. It also improves its physiological and mechanical qualities.
Objective of this skin peeling:
- Purify and oxygenate the skin by leaving it hydrated and without impurities.
- Close dilated pores, improve the texture of the skin and increase the thickness of the epidermis.
- Fight against the skin ageing effects by reducing wrinkles and bringing some firmness by unifying the skin complexion. Bring some luminosity and soften the cutaneous imperfections.
- Lighten and soften the cutaneous spots thanks to a depigmenting action.
- Reduce the different forms of acne and improve the aspect of scars.
Skin peeling treatment:
Skin peelings are part of the methods largely used and recognized in cosmetic medicine to deal effectively with some indications of the skin, the face and the body:
- Dilated pores
- The acne-prone scars
- Stretch marks
- Oily skin
- Black heads
- The wrinkled, crumpled skins
- Age spots and melasma
- Dark circles
The skin peeling is a subtle cocktail of chemical substances, more or less strong, according to the indication to be treated. You find there mainly acids of fruit, the glycolic acid, the trichloroacetic acid, the salicylic acid … In a way, it forces the regeneration of the skin by irritating it and obliging it to rebuild its different layers. Thus, after a few minutes of application on the face, or on a precise area, the skin will become red, even tanned, and will eventually peel a few days later. The desquamation and the social eviction will be more or less important according to the chosen skin peeling. The doctor often recommends several sessions of skin peeling spaced of approximately 3 weeks, in order to optimize the results. It is recommended to avoid this kind of treatment when you are tanned or during sunny periods. At the end of the session, the doctor will apply a soothing and repairing cream on the face of the patient.
There are several degrees of skin peeling. Each of them is adapted to a precise indication and its seriousness : soft skin peeling, medium skin peeling.
Soft skin peeling:
It is a skin peeling, which treats the skin superficially. It is mostly used to exfoliate the skin and eliminate all the impurities. Deep layers and dermis will not be touched and the skin peeling will treat only the epidermis, in other words, the visible part of the skin. This type of skin peeling is adapted for young skins (between 20 and 35 years old) and for some indications rather easy to treat :
- Tighten pores of the skin
- Eliminate black spots
- Cleanse the skin in depth
- Brighten the complexion
Usually, it takes few sessions sessions over several months to reach the objective. This type of skin peeling will make the skin peel and does not require social eviction. The patient can resume his activities after the session.
Medium skin peeling:
This skin peeling is rather abrasive. It reaches the layers of the skin in depth. It is particularly recommended for the mature skins (between 40 and 55 years old) or other problems, difficult to deal with :
- Blur the acne-prone scars.
- Rejuvenate the skin by erasing fine wrinkles and fine lines.
- Light up the eyes by removing dark rings.
- Unify the skin complexion by eliminating age spots.
Usually, it takes few sessions over several months to reach the objective.
This type of skin peeling will make the skin peel and does require a few days of social eviction.
Contraindications for the skin peeling:
